iPod Cassette Adapter

The iPod has an extremely interesting history.  Engineers originally attempted to design a small hard drive-based player, which should have differed from the much larger flash based media players of the time.

The first iPod was based on the idea of using hard drives (5GB Toshiba). The drives were approximately the size of a quarter. The operating system it used was known as Pixo.  The unit also included a high-resolution display and a lithium polymer power unit.

The first iPods had many innovative features- most notably the scroll wheel. The wheel was used to scroll through the list of songs and to control the menus. The scroll wheel made it easier to navigate through the play list.
